Soft Tissue Surgery

We perform many types of soft tissue surgeries at our clinic. Soft tissue surgeries are those that are not associated with bone. The most common soft tissue surgery we perform is the removal of masses or lumps. Most of these masses, once removed and tested, are found to be benign (non-harmful). However, occasionally they are more serious. Early removal and accurate diagnosis of a lump is necessary to improve the outcome in your pet if the mass is cancerous.

Acute conditions like GDV (gastric dilatation-volvulus), gall bladder symptoms, lacerations, or injuries caused by fights or accidents may also require surgical intervention.

C-Sections

Most animals give birth without any complications. However, mothers occasionally need help with delivery. We usually attempt to resolve the problem using medical therapy first, but when that doesn’t solve the issue, we will perform a Cesarean section (C-section).

During a C-section, the mother is given an anesthetic. An incision is then made along her abdomen and through the uterus to retrieve unborn puppies or kittens. A team of nurses is on hand to stimulate them, clean them up, and make sure they are breathing on their own until they can be reunited with their mother after she wakes up from surgery.

Nares Surgery

Stenotic nares surgery is a procedure that widens a dog’s nostrils to improve airflow and breathing. It is commonly performed on brachycephalic breeds with narrowed nostrils, making breathing difficult (Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, Boxers, Pekingese, etc.) The surgery can reduce snoring and other symptoms, allowing dogs to breathe more freely.
